What is Deep Tissue Massage?

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles).

    What is Lomi Lomi Massage?

    Lomi Lomi Massage is a complete healing system aimed at restoring balance and harmony within the body, mind and spirit. An ancient healing art, originating in Polynesia, practised for hundreds of years by Master practitioners known as Kahuna

    An experience where the practitioners uses continuous long flowing strokes all around the body with forearms, hands and elbows. The rhythmic, dance like movements are sometimes described as waves moving around the body.

    Intuition, positive intention and breath all play an important role in this treatment, bringing the receiver into the present moment, promoting relaxation, releasing tensions and encouraging energy flow.

      What is Full Body Massage?

      Massage is a natural, therapeutic treatment that involves gentle manipulation of body tissue by kneading and stroking the body to encourage physical and emotional benefits.

      Massage allows your muscles to relax and improves blood flow to the brain. If the body is stressed, a massage can reduce tension and encourage deep relaxation. Regular massage sessions may ease chronic pain, speed recovery from many sports injuries, make your muscles supple and improve concentration.

        What happens during a treatment?

        At the start of your first session, I will conduct a thorough health, diet and lifestyle consultation. This will involve finding out about any medication that you take, recent operations and illnesses and your reasons for trying any forms of massage (Deep Tissue/ Lomi-Lomi and Full Body Massage).

        You will be asked to remove your outer clothing.  You will be lying face down on a therapy bed. There will be a towel provided to keep your modesty as I will only expose areas as I work on them. I will work intuitively on your body, with fluid, rhythmic strokes to release and shift tensions. There is no set format for the massage itself, so no two massages are the same. The treatment session last from 1 hour to 1.5 hour.
